It’s been roughly another week in the vancouver salmon charter scene with great results all over.

In the last week Howe Sound has really started see big numbers of Pinks showing up.  Spin casting for them with Gibbs minnows has been dynamite in the 3 quarter ounce pink color.  There are several areas to do this fishery off Furry Creek golf course and Porteau Cove.  Keep an eye out when running, there are large schools heading up the shoreline.  Stop and fish if you see Pinks finning or jumping! We have been keying on Potlatch which is an area just south of Defense Islands.  It’s one of the most beautiful places we fish all year.  If you like light tackle action this is a great fishery for you and it’s great for kids with so much activity.IMG_20150807_170216 IMG_20150807_171636 FullSizeRender_0 IMG_20150807_173304

There are several other areas providing the chance of a great day on the water. In the last week Seal Rocks just off the West Vancouver shoreline has been on fire most days. There has been massive schools of Pink salmon and most trips we have had a shot at some nice Springs. Other great trips have been off IMG_20150728_084330Point Atkinson (Lighthouse Park) toward Passage Island. We have hit some real nice Springs with a mixture of Pink salmon and have even released some Sockeye salmon. Also seeing great results T10, Bell Buoy, and the West Vancouver shoreline near the mouth of the Capilano River.  All have produced Pink salmon, a few Coho salmon and some nice Springs. In all these areas should continue to have great fishing for quite a while.

IMG_20150721_120334In the last week I have been spin casting or jigging for the Pink salmon up Howe Sound where I use Gibbs 3 quarter ounce pink jigs. For trolling I use exclusively Gibbs Delta flashers chartruse glow, or the Watermark continues to rock! Rhys Davis heads with anchovies and a small mini hootchie UV with pink splatter has been great for Pinks (see picture to get an idea of the hootchie.)

Call to ask questions or about our different fishing charter options. Feel free to call if you are trying to catch them yourself I have no problem helping you guys out any way I can.  Until next time good luck.

Another warm and sunny day on the waters around vancouver. Very calm and hot today on the water. The West Van shoreline produced a few fish today. We fished for a few hours today kept 1 Pink and lost 3 Pinks and realeased 4 little Lingcod. Another boat near the Fishery Station hit a Coho, and a Pink. The Gulf Isalnds produced again with a boat getting a 15lb Halibut and 2 Springs around 20lbs each and lost 2 others at Thrasher Rock. It’s very surprising that a Halibut keeps getting hit every few days a great sign if they stick around. Howe Sound a few more Pinks showed up at Furry Creek with a few of the beach casters getting a few more today early in the morning. Crabbing remains very good for Dungeness Crab. Getting close to August a few more fish showing up every day looks great for August.

Nice calm day on the water around the Vancouver area today. The Gulf islands produced some nice Springs they were hitting near the high slack in the morning. Seems like there’re a few more schools of Coho in English Bay on the West Van shoreline and a few nice Springs. Fishing has perked up abit in the last few days everywhere lets hope the rain stays away. August is booking up pretty quick with the antisapation of the big return of the Pink and Sockeye salmon book now.

The fishing in the Vancouver area over the weekend had some good results. The West van shoreline has slowed down there’re a few schools of Coho down there so if you hit one you can do well and a few nice Springs were hit. T10 to the South arm some boats did quite qell this weekend for Springs but it was you were a hero or a zero. It looks like the Squamish fish have started to arrive into Howe Sound. There’ve been fish caught at Salmon Rock, the west side of Bowen, and Hole in the Wall to Sunset marina. Hole in the Wall yesterday had a fresh run off Springs come in the biggest I know off was 33lbs and one boat kept 3 Springs another kept 2 and about another half dozen were caught in the last say or so. They were all white Springs so definetly Squamish fish. If this is the start of the Squamish fish coming in the next couple weeks in Howe Sound will be the place to be. Nothing like a 5 minute run to the fishing grounds. Crabbing is still good with lots of large dungeness crab should stay this way for most of the summer.

Well finally after a week of North west wind it has died down abit can’t remember the last time it blew for a week. Boats could finally fish the West van shoreline again. There were a few schools of Coho down there and an odd Spring hopefully it calms down and the fishing will get back to how it was a couple weeks ago. There still are fish in the Gulf Islands off Thrasher and the Grande but the water has not let anybody fish over there except the few that are docked in Silver Bay. In Howe Sound a few nice Springs have been caught at Hole In the wall, and off Sunset marina with a few Jack Springs also which are just undersize mature Spring salmon. The West side off Bowen island has produced some real nice Springs in the last week again the North West hits there so limited time fishing there so if it stays calm we will get a good read on all these spots in the next day or so. Crabbing is still great and should stay that way.
